Under the watch of the major parties our cost of living is rising, housing is unaffordable, small business is drowning in compliance, and corporations like Coles and Woollies are reaping the benefits. As an independent I am free to work in our community’s interests, not those of corporate or union backers and I have developed these policy priorities based on what local families, businesses, clubs and associations want.

Living better

I’m committed to reducing our cost of living, tackling housing affordability and properly funding healthcare.

I’ll work every day to drive down costs, build more affordable homes and ramp up battery and solar support to cut our power bills. I’ll also fight for more investment in modern, high-quality health and aged care.

  • Support permanent energy bill relief.
  • Work with all levels of Government to develop smarter housing solutions, like secondary dwellings and town housing.
  • Strengthen the pricing watchdog and act on the findings to control price gouging by Coles and Woollies.
  • Fight for better quality aged care, mental health and community medical services.

Keep small business in business

Let’s support our small businesses with simpler, lower taxes and less red tape.

I’ll work to help our struggling small businesses with fairer taxes, simpler compliance and incentives to invest in staff training and equipment.

  • Increase the instant asset write-off from $20k to at least $50k and make it permanent.
  • Raise the threshold of payroll tax in line with wages inflation.
  • Move the burden of superannuation collection and payment to the ATO.
  • Provide small business training grants and internships and apprenticeship incentives to bring young people into the workforce and meet the needs of local business.
  • Support legislation that ensures fair payment terms for small business.

Grow thriving communities

Let’s create opportunities for connection at every stage of life, invest in education, training and opportunities for our young people.

I’ll work to make Dickson the best place to live with connected communities, the high quality education and more opportunities for our young people.

  • Extend free TAFE places for emerging tech, STEM and clean industries.
  • Support social infrastructure, clubs and community groups to give people opportunities to connect at every stage of life.
  • Equip our local schools, university and training centres, and fund our teachers to provide the best possible outcomes - no matter what school you attend.
  • Invest in youth mental health counselling and facilities and provide more support for at-risk individuals.

Fix our roads and transport

Let’s get the public transport we deserve and fund congestion-busting road improvements so that we’re not all paying $16,000 per year for a second car and can take advantage of the 50c public transport fares to bring down our living costs.

I’ll work to fund congestion-busting roads and public transport to connect growth corridors with transport hubs, employment and shopping centres.

  • Increase transport options to rail hubs, key growth corridors, major employment and shopping centres.
  • Fund congestion-busting road improvements.
  • Advocate for proper transport planning for new housing developments and growth corridors.

Protect our homes and our kids’ future

Let’s protect our homes and our local environment to secure a brighter future for our kids.

I’ll work to put environmental planning in place to mitigate climate risk, reduce home insurance premiums, and protect our beautiful creeks and bushland.

  • Contain rising home insurance costs with proper climate planning that reduces fire and flooding risks.
  • Increase climate resilience in new housing developments while protecting our unique biodiversity and wildlife.
  • Show leadership on climate and environmental protection and support reform of our national environment laws.

Build a strong, future-proofed economy

Let’s ensure our government spends sensibly on properly costed plans that matter to us, not short-sighted policies that put money in the pocket of big business.

I’ll work to invest in local industries and technologies that create sustainable well-paid jobs and opportunities for all.

  • Support our successful industries like education, agriculture, tourism, health and manufacturing.
  • Create a fairer, more efficient tax system to stimulate investment and innovation.
  • Support young entrepreneurs and micro-businesses with a start-up year program.
  • Provide investor certainty over our energy policy, and support the cleanest, cheapest energy sources that are backed by evidence.
