The campaign to elect Community Independent Ellie Smith in the seat of Dickson has reached new highs, with hundreds of extra volunteers and supporters coming together to return politics to a people-powered movement.
The community centred campaign began less than 12 months ago, when a small group, including residents from Brisbane’s Hills District met to talk about how politics could be done better.
Twenty people quickly grew to 200, and before long the group known as Dickson Decides had chosen local mum, community advocate and former environmental consultant Ellie Smith as its candidate to contest this year’s Federal election.
